About

Wim Winters studied organ and piano at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam under Jacques van Oortmerssen and Willem Brons. He performs the music of composers from Bach to Beethoven on the clavichord, fortepiano, and organ. In 2021, he was appointed organist of the newly built Contius organ in St. Michael’s Church, Leuven (Belgium), a project for which he was one of the initiators.

In 2017, he founded the label Authentic Sound, initially to highlight the beauty and historical importance of the clavichord. Since then, he has collaborated with Dr. Lorenz Gadient on historical tempo reconstruction, with a particular focus on the metronome. Their research will be published in the upcoming book Fixing the Beethoven Mistake: A Paradigm Shift in Classical Music.

Since 2021, he has also collaborated with the young pianist Alberto Sanna, with whom he recorded all Beethoven symphonies on fortepiano for four hands. In addition to his musical endeavors, Wim Winters works as a consultant on the restoration of historical organs.
